My happy place is on the road. I love to travel and If I’m being honest I’d have to say I love the planning and packing that leads up to the big travel day too. I love to travel with my family and with friends. I love creating lasting memories with other people.
Last week I had the joy of doing both at the same time.
Returning to the WYA Point Resort was like making a trip to an Ashram in Bali (I presume).
Last year we camped there. But this year, we stayed in Yurt. Both were just steps from the sea but the biggest difference was not having to haul every thing with a scent (think toothpaste to sunscreven and food), back to the bear safe cache after each use.
The rolling sounds of the water on the beach or crashing on the rugged rocks rocked us to sleep for five nights. I couldn’t have picked a better spot to relax.
With no electronics accessible my kids and their friends explored this new terrain and played on the beach from sun up to sun down. They didn’t even wait to get out of pajamas before running into the sea each day.
When they weren’t playing, they were doing the next best thing- eating and roasting marshmallows by the fire.
A two hour ferry ride followed by a two and a half hour drive didn’t dampen our enthusiasm in returning here. And hearing My children’s care free laugh made my heart swell.
Coming back to a camping ground that you love, feels like coming home. This was the first time I’ve ever felt that way while camping with my kids.
We stayed in Yurt #8 which I felt was the best positioned. Closest to the washrooms and closest to the beach. They even provided a BBQ with propane, a fireplace inside the yurt, beds and dishes. All we had to do was arrive.
We enjoyed seeing a bit of wildlife. Crabs, Sea Stars, birds and snakes were thrilling for the kids to find.
I can’t wait to return again and again With the kids.
